I credit my degree from Purdue with opening doors in my field. Engineers, architects, contractors, and building owners across the state think highly of graduates from the College of Technology.

Mechanical Engineering Technology '82
President/Owner for R.E. Dimond and Associates Inc.

Growing up, Dan Dimond had many passions: tinkering with anything mechanical, race cars, engines, and racing in general. While these interests led him to the College of Technology, it was his professors who motivated him to follow his father’s career path in HVAC design.

With guidance from professors Charles Thomas, Frederick Emshousen, and Hal Roach, Dimond learned how to break down complex problems and to be concise, logical, and practical. He uses these same lessons today as a professional engineer and businessman.

Before purchasing R.E. Dimond and Associates from his father in 1996, Dimond worked at every position in the company. The consulting engineering firm specializes in the design of smarter buildings for energy efficient, low maintenance, safe and comfortable environments. They provide mechanical, electrical, plumbing, energy management, and technology services to architects, building owners, contractors and developers. The company has completed projects for a variety of clients, including several current and past jobs for Purdue University.

Dimond has helped the firm grow to 24 employees, including seven College of Technology alumni (among other Purdue graduates).

When he’s not designing systems, Dimond spends time skiing, snowmobiling, tinkering with his rebuilt 1965 Corvette, and boating. He also is president of the administrative commission for his children’s school and parish.

Dimond and his wife, Lynn, live in Indianapolis with their three children.
