Project Manager – Chemical and Corporate IT Projects for ExxonMobil

What factors led you to pursue a career in IT?

At an early age, I was drawn to computers. As I grew older, I found that technology and how we use it to satisfy needs in the world are fascinating subjects. When paired as part of IT, they bring about desirable change to an organization. At ExxonMobil, I have had great opportunities leading projects such as the redesign/rebrand of our corporate website, exxonmobil.com (November 2013), and rolling out an environmental data management system that helps keep track of our plants emissions more effectively. It’s really satisfying to see these changes materialize and be a part of it.

Did you participate in internships?

Yes, I was very fortunate to obtain two summer internships at Zimmer, Inc. Those real world experiences were vital in solidifying my decision to continue my path in IT. It was also great to gain some “real world” insight from my colleagues on their experiences, career, and viewpoints on the future of IT.

Did you participate in Study Abroad?

No, but would have loved to experience that opportunity. Looking back now, it would have been an area I wished I had further explored.

What advice would you give to current or prospective CIT students?

IT is moving fast, so if you like change, this is the place to be. It is amazing to see how far we have come, especially since I graduated and entered the workforce. IT is enabling businesses and people to become more efficient and productive, and as IT professionals, we are on the front lines to bring this technology to our clients, especially in projects.
