The high school 4-year and 3-year Advanced Designee scholarships are for high school students planning on attending a four-year college program. Contact your high school academic advisor or Campus Military Science department for more information. The information below lists minimum eligibility criteria, and the links below show you how to apply, and the websites to visit to apply.

These National Scholarship boards are extremely competitive. There are three boards held each academic year (Oct, Jan, and March).  Deadlines to have your application "board ready" are the Friday before the board convenes, so be sure to contact us to get those specific dates.

The selection rate for these limited scholarships are small, sometimes around 30%. There are approximately 3,000 scholarships to award - 1,000 of these are 4-year scholarships, and 2,000 of these are 3AD scholarships. The 4-yr scholarships pay for 4 years of college (100% tuition + most fees, book stipend of $1,200 and a monthly stipend of $420). The 3AD scholarship has the same benefits, but pays for 3 years of college and starts in the second year. The first year is on the student, and is the “validation” year. The two critical steps to validate a 3AD scholarship are 1) a student-cadet must achieve a 2.5 cumulative GPA by the end of the 1st year, and 2) pass the Army combat fitness test (ACFT). After a student/cadet is awarded a scholarship (of any type) he/she must maintain a 2.0 GPA and pass the ACFT to keep the scholarship. (Refer to the contract for additional details.)

There are opportunities to earn a campus-based scholarship through the ROTC department. These may be 3yr, 2.5yr or 2yr scholarships and are similarly competitive, but on a smaller scale.

In the national scholarship boards, winners will be told to which college(s) they may apply their scholarship.  If a winner wants to apply their scholarship to a different school, they must 1) respond to Cadet Command that they DO accept the scholarship, 2) inform Cadet Command that they desire to use the scholarship at a different school, and 3) provide Cadet Command a copy of the acceptance letter from the desired school. Cadet Command will analyze the cost of the switch, and will respond to the student. It all depends on the budget situation each year, and the cost of the switch.

Unfortunately Purdue does not offer any complementary packages/incentives for ROTC cadets (such as in-state tuition rates, room&board packages).

For Indiana resident students as well as out-of-state students, there is another option to help pay for college through the Indiana Army National Guard. If you are interested in this, click on the link on the right menu bar titled, “SMP Program”.
