Application and Admission Requirements

It is the sole responsibility of the applicant to provide all items required by the Purdue University Graduate School, and to know that they have timely uploaded documents for processing. Please do not ask for exceptions or waivers for the stipulated items.

The deadline for receiving all required parts of fall semester applications is April 1st; for spring semester applications, September 1st. It is often difficult for international students to timely secure appropriate immigration documentation, if they delay application beyond these dates. The School of Construction Management Technology graduate faculty require ample time to carefully evaluate applications. The graduate faculty try to decide all fall applications by May 1st and spring applications by October 1st. The Graduate School will officially notify students of their application status when decided, so applicants should not delay the process by contacting the school for that information.

Students apply to the Master of Science in Construction Management (MSCM) program through the Purdue University Graduate School by completing an online application, which is not formally evaluated until the fee is paid and all required documents have been received. Construction Management graduate faculty provide no informal or preliminary assessments of applications or any parts thereof.

  • A baccalaureate grade point average of 3.00 or above on a 4.00 scale, or equivalent.
  • Valid and sufficient Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores. This must be officially reported and not submitted upon the student’s personal assurance.

Entrance Test Scores

Master of Science in Construction Management program requirements may be different from those of other Purdue graduate programs. Construction Management graduate students must have GRE results submitted by the testing agency to the Graduate School. The scores must be valid until the start date of the applicant’s studies in the School of Construction Management Technology. The school’s graduate faculty stipulate that minimum verbal and quantitative scores for admittance shall in the 50th percentile or above. Valid Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores will be accepted by the school in lieu of GRE scores, also with 50th percentile minimum.

International applicants (a) whose first language is not English, and (b) who have not graduated from an accredited university where their entire program of study was conducted in English, shall have the testing agency submit a valid and sufficient Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score. Valid International English Language Testing System (IELTS) scores will be accepted by the school in lieu of TOEFL scores. Minimum scores for Master of Science in Construction Management program admittance are:

  TOEFL IELTS

Arrival on Campus

Graduate students should plan to arrive at least one week before classes commence. Students who must locate lodging or obtain other services should arrive sooner. Purdue University, the Polytechnic Institute, and the School of Construction Management Technology conduct introductory sessions the week before classes start, and students will want time to get oriented to the West Lafayette area.
