FAQS

What's the difference between the ProSTAR MS degree and a traditional graduate degree?
Just the format. ProSTAR degree programs consist of the same Purdue courses and are taught by the same faculty as traditional programs.

What if I have to miss one of the weekend sessions?
Missing a weekend is equal to missing a third of your classes in a normal semester-so do everything possible to attend. But if circumstances force an absence, contact your faculty members in advance and work with them to get the information and assignments you need.

What happens after I apply? How long will it take to know if I'm admitted?
The admission process starts after you submit your application and all the required forms (transcript, recommendations, statement of purpose, etc.). The first step is a phone or in-person interview to review your application and the program. Next, we'll walk your application material through for approval with your scholastic department and the College of Technology. We'll notify you when this step is complete. Then, we'll submit your material to the Graduate School for approval. The Graduate School will notify you of your acceptance in an email and ask for a reply that you plan on attending the program. Your reply completes the admission process.

Why do I have to accept the Graduate School admission?
Your acceptance triggers the internal processes that will get you a Purdue ID and set you up on the various Purdue systems.

What if I don't have a 3.0 GPA in my undergrad degree?
Let us know. We understand that you've built a successful career as a professional and there may have been special circumstances that affected your GPA. After our discussion, we may recommend that you apply for admission. If you're accepted, it will be conditionally-and we can explain any additional requirements you may need to meet.
