Facilities

Because our majors benefit from hands-on experiences to to assist in their learning, they need up-to-date labs and research facilities. Each department maintains and updates its learning facilities to provide real-world and technology experiences for their students. In addition, certain labs were created to focus on one type of research, led by faculty in the department.

This area is a large two-story facility with an overhead crane. Each semester a wood-frame, steel-frame, and concrete structure are erected by the students.

Development of surveying skills necessary to measure distance, angles and elevations to required accuracies that allows proper layout for most construction project sites.

The Project Management Lab and the Scheduling, Estimating and Safety Lab are adjacent facilities, allowing the department to operate the labs daily. With construction management software and online resources available to all BCM students thereby providing general computer access to all outside scheduled class hours.

The Scheduling, Estimating, and Safety Lab is a state of the art lab with 26 workstations and an advanced audio visual system for providing instruction.  The workstations provide the students access to numerous software packages for estimating and scheduling of construction projects.

The Soils Lab provides students with an environment where they are able to receive the knowledge and skills that will allow them to be experts in their field. Students will learn how to use gradation curves through soil sieve analysis, determine soil's maximum dry densities and optimum moisture contents and measure soil plastic limits, liquid limits, as well as strengths.
