Electronics Lab 1 - Advanced

This laboratory provides professional grade instrumentation and test facilities. Upper division students design, build and evaluate electronics systems here. In the consumer power section, microcontrollers drive switching and analog power electronics. Loads include motors, loud speakers and light displays, up to ½ kilowatt. Students with particular interest in analog or audio systems close those power electronics loops to reduce full power errors and distortion below 0.2%. This laboratory space is also used for high frequency electronics and communication courses. Equipment such as spectrum analyzers, RF signal generators, tracking generators and vector network analyzers are available to test and analyze circuits up to 6GHz. An RF anechoic chamber is available to shield external RF energy from sensitive circuits or for antenna testing.
