BCM students at NAHB competition

A six-student team is competing today (Feb. 3) in the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Residential Construction Management Competition in Las Vegas. The competition is being held in conjunction with the NAHB International Builders Show.

Each team is asked to create a residential development proposal for a specific property identified by the organizers. This year’s site was 391 acres near Aurora, Colo. The 140-page proposal from the Purdue team includes sections on market analysis/pricing, site plan, housing plans, construction costs, land development, schedule, sustainability, sales/marketing and a financial analysis.

Team members, all building construction management majors, are Andrew Guerra, Caleb Partin, Chelsea Russell, Derrek Staley, Megan Voegerl and Terri Watts.

In the 2013, the team placed seventh our of 31 teams.

Jessica Anderson, clinical assistant professor of building construction management, advises the team and teaches the Construction Competition course team members are enrolled in.
