The College of Technology at Purdue is inviting high school students to a one-day workshop focused on the many ways computing skills can impact society. Participants will learn about potential careers as well. Based on the college's popular SPIRIT summer camps (Surprising Possibilities Imagined and Realized through Information Technology), the workshop is for students who have not attended a previous SPIRIT camp. Two workshops are being planned: Wednesday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Dec. 13. Interested students can apply online. Applicants who are accepted will be required to pay a $15 non-refundable deposit. If they complete all the necessary paperwork and projects during the day, they will receive a $50 stipend. Teachers or guidance counselors who bring a group of accepted students and who also participate in the program receive educational credit, a stipend worth up to $100, and up to $75 for their school to hire a substitute.
