Bios of panelists

James B. Hill, vice president, Hill Mechanical Group, has responsibility for business development, customer relations, and marketing for The Hill Group. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology and a masters of business administration. He began his career over 30 years ago as a tool / stock room intern and is the third generation of Hill family members to join the company. The Hill Group is one of the largest and most comprehensive mechanical construction, design, service and operations companies in the Midwest.

James F. Keppler, vice president, Integrated Supply Chain & Quality, North American Region, Whirlpool, is responsible for the manufacturing, logistics, planning, trade partner customer service, and quality functions in North America. In his previous assignment as vice president of manufacturing for Whirlpool, Keppler was responsible for the company's 13 appliance manufacturing facilities in North America. Prior to Whirlpool, he worked for 22 years in the automotive industry.

John S. Sofia, vice president, Global Program Management, American Axle & Manufacturing, began his automotive career at the former Chrysler Corporation in 1984 as a college-student-in-training in the Stamping, Assembly & Diversified Operations Group. He joined AAM in 1994 as an area manager at Detroit Gear & Axle. He worked through several areas of the company, including Plant Manager, Engineering and Product Development, Chief Technology Officer, and Program Management and Launch. Sofia holds a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology from Purdue University. He holds a master of business administration degree from the University of Detroit, and is pursuing a doctoral degree in business administration from Lawrence Technological University.
