CoT-sponsored conference planned for technology businesses

The Purdue College of Technology is planning a one-day conference for small and medium sized technology businesses to help them explore ways to expand their businesses. The Indiana Conference for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise, scheduled for November 18, 2011, will focus on research, technology, innovation, markets and marketing. Participants will learn about accessing foreign markets and leveraging existing resources to strengthen their business and their regional economies. “Economic sustainability is partly contingent upon communities being able to support themselves. They need healthy businesses,” said Melissa Dark, associate dean for strategic planning and research and one of the organizers of the conference.  “This conference is designed to help existing businesses improve or expand their market share.” Two major sessions of the conference will focus on expanding both regionally and globally. “We will talk about regional economic development and how these small and medium-sized technology companies can work together to conceive of and identify new markets for their services or products,” Dark said. Likewise, the conference will work with participants to explore ways to sell their products to customers in China and other countries. The day will also include a job fair for Purdue students and demonstrations of new technologies being developed at Purdue. The deadline for early registration is November 7, 2011.
