Purdue Intramural Field (Airport Rd.)

Watch a high-altitude balloon launch from the Purdue University intramural fields, and then head over to the Niswonger Aviation Technology Building to track the balloon and hear more about how it operates.

The event is being coordinated by the Association of Mechanical and Electrical Technologists, a student group.

During a test launch and flight Nov. 9, the balloon reached an altitude of 75,000 feet and a maximum speed of 175 miles per hour. It landed about 230 miles away near Dublin, Ohio.
