New internship program to help bridge skills gap for advanced manufacturing

The Purdue College of Technology at Lafayette is one of two university partners with Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc., in the new SIA Advanced Internship in Manufacturing Program (AIM).

SIA created the internship program to help bridge the gap between post-secondary educational opportunities in Indiana and highly skilled job opportunities in the manufacturing industry. AIM is a collaboration between SIA, Vincennes University and the Purdue College of Technology. The program provides select Vincennes University students with an internship opportunity in computer integrated manufacturing, combining classroom education with real-world, hands-on work experience.

During the internship at the SIA plant in Lafayette, students would take classes at the College of Technology in Lafayette. After six months of employment at SIA, they would be eligible to continue their education and earn a bachelor's degree in engineering technology from the College of Technology, which SIA would pay for.
