New study abroad initiatives receive funding

Six faculty members received funding from Purdue's International Programs office to help start new study abroad initiatives. The Study Abroad and International Learning (SAIL) grants will be used for a variety of endeavors. Edie Schmidt, for example, will use the funds to create a new short-term experience for graduate students. The new course, Discovering Graduate Careers in Colombia, is scheduled for the summer. Daphene Koch is collaborating with The Costa Rican Institute of Technology Construction Engineering School. She will use her SAIL grant to host a visitor from the institute this fall and to help defray costs for the trip for students and faculty in Spring 2012.
