ProSTAR profiles: Mark Schuver

Mark Schuver, associate director of ProSTAR, has been involved with the college's professional education programs since 2002, making him ProSTAR's most experienced resource. Mark’s first mission was to develop and grow our original Weekend Master’s Program. He also established an in-house program with Rolls-Royce that continues today with its fourth master’s cohort. He also teaches in the College of Technology.

Mark Schuver
Mark has an associate degree in drafting technology from North Iowa Area Community College and a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Mark brought a wealth of industry experience to Purdue. He spent 35 years at Caterpillar in several areas including operations, supplier management, quality, logistics, product design and research and development. A Lifetime Certified Purchasing Manager with the Institute of Supply Management (formerly NAPM), he is a member the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) and serves on the executive board of the Continuing Professional Development Division. He is a member of College/Industry Partnerships, Engineering Technology and Graduate Studies Divisions of ASEE and the National Collaborative Task Force for Engineering Education Reform.

Meeting the working professionals in ProSTAR and discussing how to help meet their goals are some of his favorite parts of his job. He says it is very gratifying to see them earn their degrees and then report success stories as their careers progress. (Alumni, let us know how you are doing!)

Outside of work, Mark very much enjoys spending time with his four grandkids. Two are close by in Indianapolis and two are in Denver, Colo.
