Where we've been and where we're going
In its nearly 50-year existence, the College of Technology has focused on using technology in order to make improvements in business, industry and education. The founding administrators and faculty understood the value of placing concepts into practice and based upon that principle they designed a curriculum in order to give students valuable exposure with hands-on lessons.
As technology has evolved and become more ingrained within society, the programs have expanded and shifted in order to respond to new needs. While none of today’s programs mirror the original offerings, they are still grounded in theory and the application of that theory.
As research became more prominent across the University, college leaders began identifying research areas that would keep the college in scientific, technological forefront.
The college’s six signature areas apply across departments and programs:
- Technology and Life Sciences
- Security and Forensics
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Energy and Sustainability
- STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
As the college and University look toward the future - administrators, faculty and staff will work to situate the college as a global leader in both the definition and preparation of technologists who will play a unique role in business, industry as well as society in order to move the college from good to great.
