Presentation at Automation World on the Flaw in Engineering/Technology Education in US

I made a keynote presentation at Automation World’s The Automation Conference in Chicago on Wednesday (May 15). Automation World did a good job of summarizing my remarks.

We need to create a new class of engineer/technologist which is an applied engineer. My presentation summarizes why we do not prepare applied engineers in higher education and its historical roots.

Gary R. Bertoline is Dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology, and a Professor of Computer & Information Technology. Prior to becoming dean, he served as Associate Dean for Graduate Studies in the College of Technology. From 1995 through 2002, Gary served as Department Head of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue University.
