N Athula Kulatunga, Ph.D. CEM,
Founder & director of SMIL. He is a full professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. He has been performing energy assessment for industrial and commercial sectors as a Certified Energy Manger (Association of Energy Engineers, AEE) for last 12 years. He is the founder of two industry sponsored applied research labs at Purdue – 1) Power Electronics Development and Applications Lab (PEDAL) sponsored by International Rectifier and 2) SMIL.

Kartik B. Ariyur, Ph.D.
is Assistant Professor in the School of Mechanical Engineering in Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. Prior to joining Purdue in 2008, worked on a variety of problems while at the Honeywell Labs in Minneapolis. They range from guidance, navigation communications and control to health monitoring, surveillance, hybrid system verification and aerodynamic modeling. He has more than 25 US patent applications (9 issued).

•Autonomous navigation: GPS denied navigation; navigation with natural signals;
•Health monitoring, adaptation, and real-time optimization: security systems, aircraft engines and actuators

Dr. Chris Foreman, PhD CSE (2008), MENG EE (1996), teaches and performs research in power generation, including renewable energy processes, intelligent power grid (smart grid), microgrid systems, electric vehicle drivetrains, and power storage. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, the Power and Energy Society, and has approximately 15 years industry experience in power and related industries, in addition to his academic career.
