On April 5, University Residences and the Office of Residential Academic Initiatives announced the winners of this year’s “Favorite Faculty” awards. Throughout February, Purdue students living in university residences nominated faculty members who had significantly impacted their time at Purdue. Nearly 300 nominations were submitted and reviewed by a committee, who ultimately selected the 5 winners.

Paul Parsons, a professor in the Department of Computer Graphics Technology, was awarded as the Most Distinguished Faculty for Research. Jackson Murray, the student who nominated Parsons wrote: "His impact on Purdue students and myself is immeasurable, and I know his innovative spirit, unwavering dedication and passion have inspired countless students to reach new heights of excellence."

Murray himself is a soon-to-be graduate of Purdue with a degree in user experience design. He went on to say that his collaborations with Parsons have led to “some of [his] most memorable moments at Purdue.”

“We talked to astronauts during our NASA interview study, wrote a publication for a premier conference, won first at the spring undergraduate research conference for [Purdue Polytechnic,] and ideated on new [human-computer interaction] concepts. Sometimes I wonder how different my life would be if you hadn't replied to my email three years ago when I was just a random engineering student looking for a chance to try something new. Congratulations Professor, well deserved!”
