Munguia serving on Equity Task Force steering committee

Toni MunguiaIn August, Purdue’s Board of Trustees established the Equity Task Force to develop a plan for all Purdue campuses with specific actions to ensure that all members of the University community have the opportunity to equitably experience everything Purdue has to offer. Meeting throughout the fall semester, the group focused on structural and environmental barriers to the success of students, faculty, and staff of color.

Toni Munguia, Purdue Polytechnic’s director of recruitment, retention and diversity, was named by the Board of Trustees to serve on the task force’s steering committee.

Working with more than 150 individuals from across the University system, including faculty, staff, students and alumni, the task force completed their identification and review of overarching equity issues, particularly for Black Boilermakers. The identified issues now will form the basis for a strategic plan and implementation as the University aims for broader equity and inclusion. Their full strategic plan will be delivered to the Board of Trustees on Feb. 5.
