Purdue Polytechnic’s accelerated construction management degree is helping alleviate the shortage of qualified employees in industry. The first graduates of the School of Construction Management Technology’s ”Degree in 3“ program graduated this past May.

Three students in Purdue University’s School of Aviation and Transportation Technology earned scholarships from the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading Foundation totaling $33,000. The scholarship recipients are Pratik Jadhav and Parth Mehta, both graduate students in aviation and aerospace management, and Branden Gallimore, senior in aviation management.

Jose Garcia Bravo and Brittany Newell, assistant professors of engineering technology, along with Jose Chamorro, Santiago Guevara, Jose Solorio, Laura Vallejo and other colleagues, collaborated to design a system that predicts the health of conveyance systems in industry. Improving the reliability of conveyor belts has the potential to improve efficiencies and reduce costs in a variety of industries.

Ten Purdue Polytechnic students were recognized as Academic All-Big Ten honorees.

Purdue’s Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) recognized several Purdue Polytechnic students for first, second and third place research presentations and posters during OUR’s spring 2021 undergraduate research conference.

Ethan Sneider, the first graduate of Purdue’s fully online Doctor of Technology (D.Tech.) program, earned his degree while stationed in Hawaii and Qatar with the Air Force.

Zachary Marshall, a senior who double-majored in aeronautical and astronautical engineering and aerospace financial analysis, was selected to receive the G.A. Ross Award. The award is given to the University’s outstanding graduating senior man who demonstrates high standards of academic achievement, outstanding leadership, strength of character and contribution to Purdue.

Noah Jackson, senior in construction management technology, won first place in an essay competition that focused on innovation.

Purdue Polytechnic students Zackary Roth, Brock Langley and Jack Williams have received grant funding from an organization that supports student inventors to help market the Seal Spoon, a spoon with a closable cover designed to help people with Parkinson’s disease.

Racecar driver Cory Clay, a mechanical engineering technology student at the Columbus, Indiana, location of Purdue University’s Polytechnic Institute, got a chance to compete against legendary NASCAR driver Tony Stewart in a midget car race — and Clay took the checkered flag!
