The manufacturing facility of yesterday has evolved into the Smart Manufacturing Enterprise, where new technologies – artificial intelligence (AI), Industrial Internet of Things, collaborative robotics, virtual reality and more – are changing the manufacturing landscape in fast, exciting ways.

Program Benefits
Upon successful completion of the Smart Manufacturing Enterprise minor, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of manufacturing industries and the common or unique processes employed by each.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the interrelationship and interdependencies between Manufacturing Operational Technology and Manufacturing Information Technology.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the contribution of manufacturing to global economies and the operating characteristics of the global manufacturing enterprise.
- Develop the ability to communicate the role of the student’s current major to the smart manufacturing enterprise.
- Effectively engage in problem-solving teams of students with majors in other manufacturing-related disciplines.
