National aviation industry leaders attend Industrial Advisory Board

2017 Industrial Advisory Board

The School of Aviation and Transportation Technology held the 2017 Industrial Advisory Board on Wednesday (February 1). Nineteen aviation industry leaders came to West Lafayette from around the country to discuss aviation and higher education with faculty.

Members of the board represent numerous areas in aviation, management, flight and engineering. The following industry representatives attended:

The goal of the meeting was to promote and enhance the school. The day started with opening remarks from John Mott, interim head of the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, regarding the status of the program. During a plenary session on generational learning styles and expectations, Dan Guberman, instructional developer in the Center for Instructional Excellence, helped the group to understand the generational gaps.

After a brief break, the board split up for in-depth discussions into their respective areas: ABET, AABI Flight and AABI Management. The group then went to the Raisbeck Composite Lab for a tour of the facility. Board members and faculty ended the day by enjoying dinner at the John Purdue Room in Marriott Hall.
