2017 Polytechnic Summit

The 2017 Polytechnic Summit, an international gathering of fellow academic and industry professionals, will be held June 5-7, 2017, at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. The summit will showcase innovative 21st-century polytechnic approaches to applied learning environments and student-centered active learning.

The event is being hosted by the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, one of the 10 academic colleges at Purdue University, in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Stout and Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.

Keynote addresses from leaders in higher education will include Mitch Daniels, president of Purdue University; Timothy D. Sands, president of Virginia Tech; Brian Norton, president of Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT); Vincent Manno, provost of Olin College of Engineering; and Carlos Heeren, executive director of UTEC (Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología) and Tecsup (Instituto Superior de Tecnologia).

Attendees will network with innovators from around the world, participate in panel discussions, and view presentations on topics including community/industry engagement, competency-based programs and assessment, innovative instructional methods, globalization, applied research, and senior projects/capstones.

Academic professionals who align themselves with innovative educational models that embrace student-centered, experiential, learn-by-doing methodology and applied or user-inspired research are encouraged to attend.

Community and industry leaders who understand the need for industry-academic collaboration, value student internships, want to influence the capabilities of their future hires, and welcome the use of student teams to help solve their current corporate problems through real-world projects in the classroom will also value the summit.

Summit sessions will be in Stewart Center and the Purdue Memorial Union.
