Two students win college leadership awards
As part of its mission, the College of Technology strives to develop future managers and leaders in technology. To foster and recognize this, the college awards leadership awards: one award for an outstanding undergraduate leader and one for an outstanding graduate leader. Any student who is a major in any of the College of Technology’s graduate or undergraduate programs is eligible.
The 2013 student leadership honors were awarded to Erika Healy and Jennifer Kirschner.

Grant for malware research will help to secure networks
Cory Nguyen, a graduate student in computer and information technology, has received a National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship. More than 3,000 people applied, but only 200 are chosen each year.
The NDSEG Fellowship is sponsored by the Department of Defense (DoD) and is intended to increase the number of U.S citizens and nationals specializing in science and engineering aimed at military applications. Nguyen received his fellowship in the area of computer and computational sciences for his research in cyber and information security.
Professor, grad student rewarded for excellence in research
Marcus Rogers, a professor in computer and information technology, and Kevin O’Connor, a graduate student in information technology, won awards from the Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) in April 2012.
Rogers received a commemorative clock and a plaque for the 2012 Pillar Award for making exceptional efforts to support and grow CERIAS. Rogers contributed service above and beyond what was expected and excelled in research and education.
CGT grad directs award winning "The Girl and the Fox"
Tyler Kupferer, director of award winning short-film “The Girl and the Fox,” says that Purdue experiences such as Martin Jischke's President's Leadership Program and the Digital Cinema Contest gave him the skills to be a successful director.
Kupferer is a 2008 graduate of the computer graphics technology program.
Professor Bowen receives award for excellence in distance learning
Erin Bowen, assistant professor in Technology Leadership and Innovation, received the Purdue Award for Excellence in Distance Learning in April 2012. She received this award for her outstanding efforts in her Measurement and Evaluation for Industry and Technology course, offered for online graduate degrees by the Center for Professional Studies in Technology and Applied Research (ProSTAR) master’s program.
Purdue EcoMakers wins six awards in first year of EcoCAR 2
The Purdue EcoMakers team received six awards during the the EcoCAR 2 Year One Competition in Los Angeles May 18-23, 2012.
The first year of the three-year competition focused on student plans for their advanced vehicle architectures using modeling and simulation. The competing teams participated in a trade show and delivered numerous presentations to judges during the competition.
